Cellulitis Infection Attacks Face
At 8:30 tonight Steve was still at Bellin Rehab Unit hooked up to IVs with a stronger antibiotic and saline for dehydration. Dr. Davis who specializes in infections looked at Steve and suspects cellulitis of the eyes or a staph infection that got on the inside of him, which can be deadly. They’re not absolutely sure that that’s it, so they’re doing a blood culture but we may not know anything for 48 hrs. But they’re treating it like it is staph.
In the meantime, Steve is very sick and his whole face is swollen including his throat. His eye sockets hurt, his jaw is so painful he can’t eat, and his eyes are swollen shut. I was shocked to see how swollen he was since I didn’t see him for the two days I was sick.
They took him for another CT scan (I think that’s the 5th one), but there was no swelling or bleeding on the brain. So we’re so thankful for that. Even in his miserable condition he still jokes around with the nurses. What a trouper he is!!!
He sleeps most of the time and they have given him a more powerful pain killer to help with the sciatic pain. They even changed out his mattress to a special one to make it more comfortable for him.

Many of you have asked about coming up to see Steve or me, and I so appreciate all of your offers. But he’s so sick right now that he shouldn’t have visitors. But you can come and pray with me for him if you like. I will let you know when he’s up to having visitors.
I’m feeling much better myself, so thank you for your prayers. Please keep praying.
Love, Kathy
