Stroke Survivor Needs Hope & Encouragement
Steve is being moved to Woodside Nursing Home on Saturday, and he needs much hope and encouragement. We don’t know how long he’ll be there. It all depends on how quickly he responds to therapy. The move is hard for all of us because the unknown is taking us out of our comfort zone. We have mixed emotions about it since he’s receiving such good care at Bellin, but we’ve been reassured that the therapists are top notch at Woodside also.
There are still areas of concern because Steve still needs a lot of care. The sciatica has been acting up giving him pain in both legs, and the left leg is swelling from lack of use. The physical therapists know exactly what to do to relieve the pain through certain stretching exercises, but they can’t be as aggressive as they would like to be, so it is hindering the stroke rehab progress. It’s really hard for him at night because he needs to be turned and shifted every 1/2 hour or so to get comfortable. This is something we can do in our sleep, but he doesn’t have that ability yet. So please pray that he will get relief from the sciatica pain.

He desperately needs encouragement and hope. Despair can set in so easily when he’s not able to do some of the exercises. But yet he has come so far since the stroke, and he’s right on the threshold of really breaking through with the therapy. Please pray that despair and discouragement will be nipped in the bud, and that he will be filled with hope, strength and faith to press on.
And pray for me and my family as well for continued strength, grace and peace throughout the coming months. Thanks so much.
Love, Kathy
