Hi Bobbie, I'm really proud of you for persevering. Not having an AFO is really a blessing in disguise. Over time the muscle in the leg weakens when you wear it all the time, so if your balance is good, you are better off without it. I hope you have a very Merry Christmas...walking. If you miss that deadline, just make another one. But whatever you do, don't give up!! You can do it!

hi, my name is Bobbie I am 39 years old I had an ischemic stroke less than # months ago followed by several days of mini strokes. I went to the ER when I started losing the feeling and mobility on my left side. they told me I was having anxiety attacks and did nothing.A few days later I was in the hospital because I had a bad stroke that left me paralyzed on my left side. I also developed the drop foot and needed an AFO but medicaid would not pay for it so I had to buy my own brace. I have had home PT and Outpatient PT and OT I have almost regained all the use of my left arm and hand in less than 90 days. I can walk some on my own without the cane or hemi-walker(one handed walker). While I was in the hospital they took so much blood from me I did not think they were going to leave any in my body. I never lost my core balance so I was able to sit up from right after. By the Grace of God I will be walking by Christmas. Thank you so much for sharing your story, it is an inspiration.
