Saying Good-Bye to Bellin

Yesterday was a very emotionally difficult day for Steve. He is going through a grieving process as he grieves the loss of his physical ability coupled with the loss of security and friendships with the therapists and nurses he’s learned to trust.Steve saying good-bye to Bellin

The right hemisphere of the brain heavily influences the emotions, and since that’s where the stroke occurred in Steve, he has at times become highly emotional, breaking out in tears and weeping.

But yesterday it was even more so as many of the staff already said their good-byes. Now he will have to get to know all new people and entrust his care into their hands when he moves to Woodside Nursing Home today.

Please pray:

1. That God will comfort Steve’s heart and fill him with hope for what’s to come

2. That the transition to the nursing home will go smoothly today

3. And that he will not dwell on what he’s lost, but will be encouraged by the progress he’s already made.

4. Pray also that I will not grow weary in well-doing

Thank you so much for bringing our needs before the throne of grace. I feel like you are Aaron and Hur who held up Moses’ arms so he could have victory in the battle. (See the reference below).

Love, Kathy

“All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Aaron & Hur Exodus 17:8-13

8 While the people of Israel were still at Rephidim, the warriors of Amalek came to fight against them.

9 Moses commanded Joshua, “Call the Israelites to arms, and fight the army of Amalek. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.”

10 So Joshua did what Moses had commanded. He led his men out to fight the army of Amalek. Meanwhile Moses, Aaron, and Hur went to the top of a nearby hill.

11 As long as Moses held up the staff with his hands, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites gained the upper hand.

12 Moses’ arms finally became too tired to hold up the staff any longer. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side, holding up his hands until sunset.

13 As a result, Joshua and his troops were able to crush the army of Amalek.
