Date Set for Nursing Home Discharge

A date was set for Steve’s discharge from the nursing home. On Monday and Tuesday I was not feeling well and I wrestled in my sleep. On both nights I was awakened numerous times with the thought that I had to bring Steve home…that now was time and not to wait any longer. After expressing my fears and concerns to God, [...]

Answered Prayer!!!

The pain Steve had in his left leg and ankle has disappeared!!! PTL! On Sunday he kept saying his leg was numb and he couldn’t feel anything. He was concerned about this, not realizing that the only sensation he had before in that leg was pain. Yet he can still feel it when it’s touched, so it’s not completely numb, just the [...]

Feeling Better after Flu Hits Nursing Home

Steve apparently had a touch of a flu virus that was making the rounds in the nursing home. Quite a few of the other older residents got it more severely, and it proved to be deadly for one or two of them. Thank you so much for praying for him, because he was feeling much better late this [...]

Experiencing Lots of Pain

Today Steve was really hurting and experiencing lots of pain. After the doctor appt. he felt dizzy and nauseous. So he skipped lunch and went right to bed right around 1:30 and stayed there. He was making pained noises in his sleep and he looked pale. All of a sudden around 5:00 PM, his blood pressure skyrocketed to 170/100, and he felt [...]

Ankle is Painful

The ankle that is so painful is causing a hindrance to Steve’s walking, and much time is spent in therapy just stretching out the tendons to relieve the pain. I will be taking him to the doctor in the morning for an MRI to see if there’s something that was overlooked. Please pray for complete healing of the [...]

Life at the Nursing Home

It’s been 12 weeks since Steve had a major ischemic stroke. Six of those weeks have been spent at Woodside Nursing Home where he is presently. Our insurance benefits are limited to pay nursing home costs for no more than 100 days, which means that Steve will be discharged July 12, 2008 or before. It seems like such a long [...]

Medication Complications

Wow! What a roller coaster week this has been! Some big lows with medication complications, but even bigger highs! We think we narrowed down the dizziness to a combination of drugs that just aren’t working for Steve. He was on a Nitro-Patch since the beginning of his hospitalization, and last week the neurologist added Plavix which is [...]
