Tooth Needs Pulling

On Friday Steve is having oral surgery to pull an impacted tooth and possibly 2 wisdom teeth. If the wisdom teeth have roots going into the sinus cavity, they will be pulled also. Steve has severe sinus issues which complicates his sleeping with the CPAP sleep mask, so if the teeth are the cause of the problem, they will be removed.

Being sedated is always risky under the circumstances, so we are asking for divine wisdom and guidance, and for God to guide the doctor as this tooth is pulled. Please pray for Steve’s safety and protection and for a quick recovery.

Steve has been making steady progress in his recovery in the last 5 1/2 months. Although it seems slow at times, every little improvement is a victory. Last week he started out the week not being able to lift his arm off the table. This week he can lift it up 1 inch. Steve sometimes forgets that this is great progress… he’s looking for that one big thing. But before a person runs, he must learn to walk. So all of these little things leads to the big things. I remember the day when I saw a very slight movement in his fingers. Now he can grasp them, and he’s learning to open his hand. He doesn’t have any sensory feeling in his fingers or toes. They only tingle and feel like pins and needles. Please pray that his sense of touch will come back to his fingers and toes.

The therapists at St. Vincent’s are excellent and they all like Steve because he has determination and works hard, and that makes their efforts more rewarding.

About a month ago, Steve put on a set of head phones and realized that he couldn’t hear from his left ear. I suspected hearing loss when he was still in the hospital, but it was never checked out. I tested the headphones myself to make sure they were working (and they were). Several of of you prayed for him at church to regain that hearing and we scheduled an appt. with an ENT – ear, nose and throat specialist. When he had the hearing test done, it revealed that his hearing has come back. So please praise God with me for this answered prayer.
