Strides in Stroke Recovery
Slow and steady, steady and slow, that’s the only way to go! This saying describes Steve’s progress, slow but making good progress.
Tonight he walked into church for Wed. night Bible study instead of wheeling in his chair. This morning he was able to lift his left arm up to his face while lying on his back. This afternoon in therapy, he could point his left foot down (like ballet toe) and then lift it up again. This maneuver stretches his calf, shin and ankle muscles, which strengthens the foot to eliminate the drop foot condition. His physical therapist had him walking today without his AFO (ankle foot orthotic), and Steve did well in lifting his foot without dragging his toe.
All of these accomplishments are so encouraging. They didn’t happen overnight and the process seems slow at times, but it’s continual progress, and for that we’re thankful.
Thanks so much for your prayers!
