Clinical Trials – Questions to Ask

Clinical research trials involve risks, time commitments and travel. Before you enroll in a clinical trial, you should ask the following questions:

  1. What is the purpose of this clinical study?
  2. How long will I be in the study?
  3. How often will I need to go to my clinic/hospital?
  4. What tests and procedures are involved?
  5. Will my medical records remain confidential?
  6. Is there a chance I will receive a placebo?
  7. What are the benefits and risks associated with this study?
  8. How do the benefits and risks compare with those of my current treatment?
  9. Is follow-up care part of this study?
  10. How will my condition be monitored?
  11. What safeguards will be in place for my protection?
  12. Will results of the study be provided to me?

Contact the study doctor for more information about participating in a clinical study.
