Stretch Waist Pants: Independence for Stroke Survivors
Someone recently asked me, “Where can you find comfortable stretch waist pants to help a stroke survivor become independent?”
Nice looking comfortable pants like these are hard to find in local stores, but I found a source online that has many different styles of stretch waist pants to choose from in a variety of fabrics, sizes and lengths.
With the use of only one hand, Steve can’t button his pants by himself, so the 360° elastic waist stretch pants are ideal for him. It gives him complete independence to dress himself and go to the bathroom without someone having to help pull his pants up.
The kind I buy for Steve are 100%, pre-washed, pre-shrunk cotton jersey with 2 front pockets, 2 back pockets (1 with a zipper for a wallet), convenient zipper fly, and a full elastic waist with an inside drawstring. They do shrink a little when dried in the dryer, so I order his pant length one size longer than he normally wears to allow for that shrinkage.
I purchased several pairs of the knit jersey stretch waist pants. They’re very comfortable, look nice and are inexpensive too. The charcoal color is my favorite because it goes with most of the shirts Steve wears. What’s also nice is that the stretch waist pants come in different lengths and a variety of waist sizes for the big and tall man.
At Haband.com you can find both men and women’s stretch waist pants and a number of other pants styles that are available to help stroke survivors dress themselves and gain their independence back. In addition to stretch waist pants, they also carry a number of other clothing items, shoes, and household products that benefit stroke survivors and others who have mobility problems.
